Pulled all snowmobile and snow trails from the project. These didn't ever seem to quite fit with the project and if there is demand can be spun off into a separate package.
Revamped custom lines styles to accomodate the removal of the above trail types, to improve the appearance of the "lo-res" styles on units like the 60CSx, and to distinguish unpaved roads from the new appearance of "alleys" in City Navigator, which Garmin recently changed. Changes include:
- Hi-Res:
  - Changed trails from two-pixel wide line with white borders to single-pixel line with white borders
  - Changed unpaved roads from a bitmap boxed line to a two-pixel light brown vector line with dark brown borders

Map selection polygons in Mapsource were changed from basic overlapping rectangles to polygons that better match the state and province boundaries
Map region size (an internal breakdown of the map data not visible to users) was increased in order to accommodate some recent changes in the latest version of cGPSmapper (the utility used to generate the map images). This means that the GPS has to load more data with each draw, potentially leading to slower performance on some older receivers. Feedback on performance would be appreciated, and I can try to further tweak these settings if there are problems.
Adjusted display levels of data both in MapSource and on the GPS. Trails now will not appear until you zoom in to the 0.5 mile zoom level or below (default detail), but will display with more precision at intermediate zoom levels. This change was necessitated by additional changes to cGPSmapper. Zoom levels of background maps can no longer overlap the zoom levels of the detail maps as was previously the case. In order to maintain as much of the fidelity of the background map as possible, I reduced the zoom range of the trails.
Changed the display styles for all trails to styles that are more visible in a variety of conditions and that are more intuitive (feedback on these is also appreciated!)
Changed the setup package to allow user to specify which custom line type styles they prefer. Two different sets are currently available: one that looks better on higher resolution screens like the Colorado and Oregon, and one that looks better on lower resolution screens like the 60 series. See the "Features" section of the Northwest Trails page for details of what the various styles look like.

Got in contact with Ben from Redtrails.com and made a data exchange. This led to a massive revamp of the Northwest Trails data, cutting out all remaining FSGeodata Clearinghouse data and replacing it with more accurate GIS data from National Forests that do not provide trails for public download. Did a wholesale housecleaning of obsolete trail data by removing FSGeodata Clearinghouse data and adding Bureau of Land Management data (thanks to shutle64 for directing me to it) where switch-out was appropriate. Explanation and description of changes:
- The FSGeodata Clearinghouse data simply has too many inaccuracies and obsolete trails and roads
- The available BLM data only covers Oregon and Washington
- The BLM data is also largely obsolete, but is overall more accurate than the FSGeodata and covers all public lands, not just Forest Service and adjacent land
- FSGeodata and BLM data are our only sources for trails on National Forest land in all of Wyoming and for most of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Wyoming
  - Alaska: Left untouched because there is relatively little FSGeodata and what is in the mapset is fully within the borders of the National Forests
  - Idaho: Pulled all FSGeodata out of National Forests where we have more recent GIS coverage (Idaho Panhandle NF, Kootenai NF) and removed all FSGeodata that was outside of National Forest Boundaries; added BLM data only inside boundaries of those National Forests lacking other coverage
  - Montana: Pulled all FSGeodata out of National Forests where we have more recent GIS coverage (Beaverhead NF, Kaniksu NF, Kootenai NF, Lolo NF) and removed all FSGeodata that was outside of National Forest Boundaries; added BLM data only inside boundaries of those National Forests lacking other coverage
  - Oregon: Ripped out all FSGeodata; added BLM data only inside boundaries of those National Forests lacking other coverage (National Forests in Oregon for which we have more recent GIS data are Malheur NF, Suislaw NF, Umpqua NF and Willamette NF)
  - Washington: Ripped out all FSGeodata; since we have full GIS coverage of National Forests in Washington, I only added in BLM data that I could manually check against maps to confirm was clearly a trail
  - Wyoming: No changes since FSGeodata is all we have at this time
